I’m not one for bright nail polish, but I can help you pick out about ten different shades of white & black. I use to wear ALL the aqua & pink, but these days I’m more into neutrals. But don’t let muted colors bore you — there’s such a wide range. Subtle colors can still be bold if you pick them right, & Fall is the perfect time to trade in your summer colors for new fresh shades! — Whoever said we should paint the town red was seriously disturbed. (You’re my favorite if you get the joke.)

OPI Lincoln Park After Dark // “Where midnight meets purple.” This polish is my go-to “black.” I may want all the black clothing, but I’m usually reluctant to commit to black nails. (Maybe it’s because it feels like when I was in middle school & wanted to be Hayley from Paramore…?) A couple coats of this shade will give you the boldest dark nails, that honestly look black, but isn’t actually.
OPI Black Onyx // “Basic black – and basically fabulous!” The LBD of nail polishes. If Lauren Conrad never religiously wore black polish, would it even be cool?
Essie Wicked // “A deep and dark creamy sinister red.” You’ll never catch me with red nails or red lipstick — but this color is a game changer. Just like the dark purple OPI shade, this Essie shade essentially looks black-ish after a couple coats. I like “black alternatives” because I’m crazy & notice the difference. But… everyone just thinks my nails are black.
Essie Chinchilly // “A sleek granite gray.” This is the most perfect gray shade. Depending on the lighting, it has a taupe and/or purplish undertone.

OPI Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around // “Nobody can stop me from wearing this creamy nude!” I. Love. This. Color. This is definitely one of my go-to nail polishes. It’s fresh & bold. It’s off-white-taupe-ish — yes, that’s a real word. Neutral lovers, you need this!
Essie Urban Jungle // “Irresistible alabaster orchid.” THIS. This nail polish is all I’ve been wearing these days. As shown in the featured image, this nail polish is an off white shade. It has a very subtle taupe/gray undertone & is literally my new fave. Ob-sessed. (I showed the contrast between this shade & white mug so you can see how light & fresh it is!)
Essie Minimalistic // “A barely there pink.” I never wear pink nail polish anymore, but this isn’t your typical girly pink. This shade is SO fresh looking. It’s a very subtle pink, yet it’s a bold color. Is that an oxymoron? Just try to stay with me on this. It gives the same clean look of white nail polish, with a dash of femininity, That makes sense…right? (Just go buy this shade, you won’t regret it. Trust me.)
Essie Blanc // “A snowy white, perfect for French manicures.” You can never go wrong with a fresh, bold, white nail. I love all the in-between shades, but you can never beat that classic color. (…So, like, why did I try to use wite-out when I was thirteen..?)
